MultilingualExperiment

About the computer technical aspects of multilingual communication.

The idea is not to bore readers interested in the MultilingualExperiment (but less in the computer technical issues involved) on the other pages of the experiment. Thus techtalk here, please.

[new]

It's also not to contaminate your homepage with more techtalk, Alex. About the colored background. My Internet Explorer 6.0 does not show the background colors I realized. Netscape 7.1 and Mozilla 1.5 do. How come? I fear that many out there can't see the colors. Could it be any of the explorers diverse preferences? Which? I'd like to put a note on MultilingualExperiment in that case. Someone has an idea?

[new]

The page CommuniCation doesn't finish loading when I try to edit it in neither of my three browsers. Has it become too long?

FamilyBlog I can't edit either. So it can't be the length of the page.
AdvicesForNewbies - I can't edit it either in any browser. Either the page doesn't finish to load, or it jumps into the edit mode window but I can't edit.

[new]

It works for me. This is very strange. Does anybody else have this problem?

[new]

I'm trying to upload corrected fotos for Lion and Bayle here and now, but it doesn't work. Is it a local browserproblem of mine or a general problem?

[new]

Image upload works for me, too. Do you get a message about unsupported file types? If so, what does it say, exactly?

[new]

No image upload does no work for me. Netscape just doesn't finish the upload, all steps before can be taken, Explorer says "Der Dateityp image/pjpeg ist nicht erlaubt." on the page as a reaction. Editing the wikipages, some I can some not. AdviceforNewbies? worked once, now it's blocked again. It seemsto me similar to the case some weeks ago, when there was somethng that you said shouldn't be possible to be there, remember? Sometimes pages just stop loading at a certain point and you can read text to this point, but the rest won't load. I feel it has to do with what we discovered some weeks ago. For example FamilyBlog finished loading after "Faiza, mais parfois par l". I'm sure you find the same thing there as last time. It's very annoying, I can hardly work. Thanks.
cool, the two pages work again. CommuniCation is still stuck after "(im Parlament) weiterentwick"
no, prob not partialy solved: now AdviceForNewbies? is stuck again. It works, some times and then it'stuck again

[new]

It must be something different, because when I look at the data-files, there is nothing strange after "(im Parlament) weiterentwick". Try the following links: Self:action=browse;id=CommuniCation and Self:action=browse;id=CommuniCation;cache=0 -- did that help?

[new]

On the first link it stopped again at"(im Parlament) weiterentwick". On the second first try it was stuck (further way down) second try I could edit. Does t h a t help?

The problems still ocurr and on different places. The wiki get's stuck:

  • 1. Somewhere in the text (it doesn't finish loadng the page).
  • 2. When clicking edit. The headline of the editpage comes up, the text not. They seem to behave parallel in Netscape and Explorer. I cleared caches. It's not my browsers, I think. The community logo doesn't load propperly on the pages.

Neither Self:action=browse;id=AdvicesForNewbies;cache=0 nor Self:action=browse;id=AdvicesForNewbies give me acces to edit the page (10:45, 23.1.04)

Portrait

It always hangs up here when I click edit. Edit window with incomplete logo, but no text. The picture upload worked finally but semt as well stuck after 20% from upwards the picture. When reloading it it was there then.
Upload ot the corrected fotos for Lion and Bayle though doesn't work.

[new]

Great she's up again. It feels so lousy when CommunityWiki is down. Brr. But I'll learn to cope with it. She's a highly experimental surface, isn't she?
FamilyBlog I still cannot edit, pic upload for Lion an Bayle still doesn't work, just to inform you, no pushing. Sometimes the editing cursor has a point in it (that makes it look like a reveted 1).

[new]

The editing cursor with the point appears on pages where you have right-to-left scripts: Arabic or Hebrew. In these cases your browsers notices that left-to-right and right-to-left scripts appear in the text, and in order to show you in which direction text will be inserted as you type, a little point is added to the cursor.
